Sustainable Development Strategy
As a leading manufacturer engaged in the production and sale of graphite electrodes and negative electrode materials, Sanergy Group attaches great importance to sustainable development. The Group regards sustainable development as a crucial component of its corporate strategy, guiding its activities in product design, business practices, and overall operations. It aims to promote balanced development across economic, social, and environmental dimensions, striving to create a sustainable future.
The transition to green and low-carbon practices will ultimately make the planet safer and more sustainable
The transition to green and low-carbon practices will ultimately make the planet safer and more sustainable. The path to carbon neutrality inevitably involves technological innovation. Against the backdrop of global efforts to achieve carbon neutrality, Sanergy Group actively promotes downstream industry transformation towards sustainability. This includes providing ultra-high-power graphite electrodes to electric arc furnace plants in the steel industry, which can achieve significant energy savings of 74%, reduce carbon emissions by 72%, and decrease sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions by 99% and 97%, respectively, compared to traditional blast furnace steelmaking. Additionally, electric arc furnace steelmaking utilizes scrap steel as raw material, playing an important role in the concept of "recycling" within environmental conservation.

In the face of increasingly urgent environmental pressures and global climate issues, countries worldwide are actively promoting the use of environmentally friendly and energy-efficient energy solutions. Among these solutions, the significant development of electric vehicles as a replacement for traditional fuel vehicles has become an effective means of energy conservation and emission reduction. With the rapid development of the electric vehicle and energy storage industries driven by lithium-ion batteries, Sanergy Group actively explores artificial graphite negative electrode materials through continuous technological research and development, contributing to efforts to achieve carbon neutrality and the rapid development and technological innovation of new energy vehicles, as well as the marketization of energy storage.

Sanergy Group takes concrete actions to practice sustainable development, closely collaborating with downstream customers to build a green and sustainable economy, and commits to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals advocated by the United Nations.

Sustainable Development Management
Sanergy Group is committed to integrating environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) considerations into its daily operations and management. The Board of Directors assumes overall responsibility for the strategy, reporting, supervision, and management of ESG matters. With the assistance of the Environmental, Social, and Governance Committee, the Board of Directors discusses and reviews the relevant risks and opportunities, performance, progress, goals, and indicators related to ESG at least once a year. The Board also ensures the effectiveness of risk management and internal control mechanisms for ESG.

The Environmental, Social, and Governance Committee supports the Board of Directors in overseeing ESG-related matters and is responsible for collecting and analyzing data, monitoring and evaluating the company's ESG performance, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and preparing ESG reports.

To ensure an effective implementation system, the Group has established an Environmental, Social, and Governance Working Group at the management level. The working group, composed of relevant departments including but not limited to the Administration Department, Production Department, and Legal Department, is responsible for discussing ESG matters. The Environmental, Social, and Governance Working Group sets annual objectives and reviews the progress of achieving these objectives using timely data reports to identify areas for improvement. Additionally, the working group provides practical solutions to the Environmental, Social, and Governance Committee.

Sustainable Development Practices
In 2015, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and 169 specific targets. World leaders pledged to work towards each SDG over the following 15 years (2015-2030), aiming to eradicate poverty, protect the environment, and ensure peace, security, and prosperity for all. As a global corporate citizen, the Group responds to the UN Sustainable Goals and incorporates them into its business operations.
  • Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for people of all ages.
Sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are harmful pollutants in the atmosphere. The use of electric arc furnaces for steelmaking is considered more environmentally friendly in terms of pollutant emissions and energy consumption, and is regarded as the core pillar for achieving "ultra-low emissions" in the steel industry. The Group provides ultra-high power graphite electrodes to electric arc furnace factories in the steel industry, expecting to reduce sulfur dioxide emissions by 99% and nitrogen oxide emissions by 97% compared to traditional blast furnace steelmaking. The Group closely collaborates with downstream customers to contribute to the development of a green and sustainable economy, and is committed to significantly reducing the impact of air pollution in the long term.
  • Ensure universal access to affordable, reliable, and sustainable modern energy for all.
The group has been actively exploring the research and development of synthetic graphite negative electrode materials. Existing products, such as the graphiteization technology used in graphite electrodes, are also used in the manufacture of synthetic graphite negatives (key components for lithium-ion batteries used for storing renewable energy). These utilize related processes and materials, such as needle coke. Lithium-ion batteries, as a multifunctional energy storage application, have been widely adopted in electric vehicles and stationary energy storage. By actively researching lithium-ion positive electrode material technology, with the aim of providing lithium batteries at significantly lower costs in the future, the group is committed to contributing to the development of energy storage technology.
  • Promote sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all.
The global steel industry maintains steady growth, with electric arc furnace (EAF) steelmaking being one of the primary production methods for crude steel. In response to the continuous demand for increased production efficiency in the steel industry, the Group is committed to furthering technological innovation and product upgrades to provide higher performance graphite electrodes for downstream applications. The Group is dedicated to offering promising career prospects, a decent work environment, and competitive compensation to retain talent and contribute to the development of the graphite electrode industry and the economy.
  • Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation.
The Group actively promotes environmentally friendly technologies in industrial production processes and resource utilization efficiency. The application of ultra-high power graphite electrode technology in arc furnace factories brings significant environmental benefits. As a leading global supplier of graphite electrodes, the Group plays an indispensable role in the transition from traditional blast furnaces to green steelmaking arc furnaces in China and around the world.
  • Build inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities and human settlements.
The Group acknowledges the potential environmental impacts of its operations, including but not limited to air pollutant emissions and waste management. The production of ultra-high-power graphite electrodes by the Group facilitates the recycling of scrap iron in electric arc furnace plants. The lithium-ion negative electrode technology developed and produced by the Group accelerates the use of electric vehicles, significantly reducing carbon emissions and creating a sustainable society.
  • Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
The group collaborates with downstream customers to build a green, low-carbon world. It promotes sustainable consumption and production throughout the value chain. In line with the concept of waste reduction, it pioneers responsible production practices and promotes the recycling of its main product, scrap iron.
  • Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
Considering the potential challenges posed by climate change, the group is committed to enhancing its resilience and adaptation capabilities while seizing opportunities to transition to a low-carbon economy. By providing ultra-high power graphite electrodes to electric arc furnace (EAF) plants in the steel industry, the group contributes to reducing carbon emissions compared to traditional blast furnace technology. Additionally, the group's operations take into account climate-related risks and opportunities.
